The member who complained the loudest about Danai's lack of Alfa focus was willing to do more than just complain. Dan Przybylski petitioned the ARA board to let him take over the magazine. They did so and starting with the March issue got a highly enthusiastic, funny and controversial editor. Dan wasn't afraid to take on controversial subjects. His very first issue contained a hatchet piece (written by Jack Hagerty) on the recently repealed National Maximum Speed Limit. His "loose cannon" attitude, though, didn't sit well with some board members who were constantly trying to get him to tone down his style. It all came to a head in late summer '98 and he resigned after the September issue. The cover shown here is from a few issues into his tenure when he did a mild re-design of the cover, replacing the former title style with a cleaner "puffy script" font.
